Room Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 27, 2026
Room is a focus timer and ambient music app. This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and what control you have over it.
Who is responsible
Room is developed and operated by The Quiet Systems Project (José Luis Olmos, individual developer). For privacy questions, write to thequietsystemsproject@gmail.com.
What data Room uses, and why
Stored only on your device:
- Your tasks, notes, categories, and goals.
- Your focus session history (duration, room, and any concentration rating you choose to give).
- Your preferences (favorite room, volume, preferred timer duration).
Room has no servers of its own. This data never leaves your iPhone unless you turn on iCloud sync (see below).
iCloud sync (optional): if you turn it on, your tasks and sessions sync through your own iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit. We have no access to that data — it’s protected by your Apple account, the same way your Photos or Notes are.
Apple Music: if you connect Apple Music, Room asks Apple for authorization to search and play music inside the app. Apple handles that authorization directly; Room never receives or stores your listening history.
Purchases (Premium subscription): purchases are processed entirely through Apple (StoreKit). Room never sees your payment information — not your card number, not your billing name.
App blocking during sessions: if you turn this on, you choose which apps to block using Apple’s own picker (Screen Time / Family Controls). By Apple’s design, Room never learns which apps you selected — the operating system enforces the block using information that isn’t shared with the app.
Notifications: these are local, scheduled on your own device. Room doesn’t use push notifications or a notification server.
What Room does NOT do
- We don’t sell or share your information with anyone.
- We don’t show ads.
- We don’t use third-party tracking or analytics tools.
- We don’t ask for an email or password, and there’s no account or sign-in.
- We don’t read the content of your tasks or notes for any purpose other than showing them back to you.
If we add anonymous analytics in the future (e.g., to know the average number of completed sessions), it will never include your task text, notes, or anything that identifies you.
Your data, your control
You can delete all your data at any time by deleting the app, or by removing individual tasks/sessions inside Room. If you use iCloud sync, you can also delete the data from system Settings › [your name] › iCloud.
Children
Room isn’t directed at children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect information from minors.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we’ll change the date at the top of the document. Significant changes will be announced inside the app.
